ADMISSIONS

Do you or someone you know need help?

If you or someone you know needs help, feel free to contact us at 403-234-7388. Our staff will answer all your questions about our alcohol and drug detoxification program, provide information about addictions, and make referrals to other services as required.

Our drop-in shelter is available for individuals under the influence of alcohol and other drugs, and clients are encouraged to drop-in for a rest, coffee, and consultation with staff if desired.

Our overnight shelter is operated on a 24-hour basis for those who are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. A sober client, with an admitted alcohol or other drug problem may use the shelter on a short-term basis.

Detoxification is generally five to seven days, accommodating both men and women. Clients are monitored in a non-medical environment. Methadone Program clients are supported as directed by their clinics. Clients are provided with information regarding alcohol abuse and other drug abuse and withdrawal. Clients are given referral counseling and information on relapse prevention through group presentations and our addiction resource counsellors.

Our shelter is operated on a 24-hour basis. Call 403 234 7388 and ask for the supervisor or the Coordinator of Shelter/Outreach or the Coordinator of Detox.

PROCESS

Alpha House clients include both men and women, 18 years of age and older.

Referrals are accepted from individuals; family and friends; community associates such as hospitals, physicians and police; addiction services such as AADAC, AA/NA/CA/ and treatment centers. There is no limit to the number of times clients may access services.

When you arrive at our facility, our staff will carry out a preliminary screening and admissions process. Once admitted, clients will receive:

- 24-hour physical care and supervision

- Compassion and understanding from trained staff

- An opportunity and encouragement to look at new directions in life

- Information regarding treatment options and self help

OUR VALUES

We believe that our actions can enable the human spirit to heal.

We believe that the face of addiction does not define the face of the individual.

We believe that everyone is equally entitled to safety, support and encouragement.

We believe in starting where the individual "is at".
