Addiction Support Workers:

We are always interested in hearing from people wanting to work in the addiction and mental health field. We provide orientation and extensive training. Work often begins as a casual staff in our Shelter..

Duties and aspects of the work can include the following:

• Withdrawal Management
• Hygiene and care of intoxicated clients
• Some lifting; cleaning and setting up mats or making beds
• Boundary setting
• Crisis Management
• De-escalation and monitoring
• Referral and advocacy

We practice a Harm Reduction philosophy and promote a Stage of Change Model for recovery from addictions.

Minimum requirements for hiring include completed grade 12 or equivalent; Social Work diploma preferred, a valid class 4 driver's license. A surveillance check and Manitou (TB skin test) are required two weeks from hire.
